Today we, the people, celebrate our freedom from religious tyranny.
In the past, Independence Day was just another party day for me. Recently, I've become more patriotic.
In addition to celebrating the freedoms I have today, I will be reflecting on how we can unite with the idea of keeping our dwindling freedoms.
Here is my plan so far:
Volunteering at my local library
Random acts of kindness
Getting the vote out with Vote Forward
Resisting Project 2025 and Fascism
Peacefully protesting as needed (and making signs)
Also, it's okay to not yet understand the gravity of the recent Supreme Court rulings - it's a lot. But, it is in YOUR best interest to learn how you and the people you love will be impacted by what a very loud (and wealthy) minority wants to do to us. Remember, silence benefits oppressors and certain people don't want you to wake up or vote.
